Monday Made It and a Freebie

I've seen several posts about a flipbook for Back To School Night. I've used these types of flipbooks with my students for a while, and love them. I decided I wanted to make a template that would make it easier for me to incorporate these with some of my student research this year. I'm still figuring out settings and such on PowerPoint and I'm sure I've got a lot to learn. Here  is the the template I created that would be great for back to school or anything else you'd like to use it for. The text boxes are editable so you can change the information to fit your needs, I used a Kimberly Geswein font, but you can use whatever works for you. Please follow my TPT store and leave feedback if you download the template.

It will be free Monday August 12, here.

I also worked on some classroom setup stuff this weekend. I'm loving the pompoms on my dry erase markers, and my kids are all ready to do their work with freshly sharpened pencils in their cases.

Still have 10 days before the first day of school! Good luck to those of you who are starting this week!

Happy Birthday to me!

I want to welcome new followers today with a contest for following me with bloglovin and on facebook. I know I don't have a lot of posts yet, but with summer coming to an end and school starting I hope to share what I'm doing in the classroom. I do have hopes of creating some items for Teachers Pay Teachers as well, but for now will be sharing a lot more about the great products I've found there!

Thanks a lot for following along as I start my journey!

Monday Made It

I am linking up with Tara at 4th Grade Frolics for Monday Made It.

I've just started to figure out how to create in PowerPoint and make some fun stuff for my classroom. I bought some great fabric for some crate seats for last weeks Made It, and wanted to have a similar pattern for my clipchart and rulesand other posters in my classroom. So I created this  background that I hope to work into these items over the next few weeks.

I'm really new to blogging, I thought I'd start in January and obviously didn't get far. My goal is to post at least once a week. I have learned so much from the blogs I've read, and used so many great ideas from TPT sellers, I would love to blog and give credit to all of you!

Please use the previous post to follow me with Bloglovin!

New Year's Fun

We went back to school on Wednesday this week. The students were so excited to talk about all the fun stuff they did and received over the holidays. I used a great activity from this post from Fourth and Ten, "Find Somebody Who" to get them up and moving around and give them a chance to talk about their break. I also attempted to do the cute resolution kids, the kids are still working on them, and some decided they had to draw beards and mustaches on them. They should be picture ready by Monday.

We also used some of Fourth and Ten's Winter Multiplication Roll and Cover sheets as a class and the smartboard dice to review Factors. They are free and I love them! I'm actually attempting to make some of my own for use with 12 sided dice as my first Freebie on TPT. Look for them soon.

We also had 3 days of inside recess due to temperatures below 22 degrees in addition to poor air quality. We watched Magic School Bus episodes on Water and Weather to introduce our next Science Unit. I am always amazed at how much these 4th graders love the silliness, but are getting some decent information. They even asked to watch the same ones again on the next recess.

Up next week, we dive into Fractions and Weather. Some of the new core concepts for Fourth Grade Fractions are new to us, so I'm revamping and using our new Go Math Curriculum to create some new activities.

We are also working as a team to create Essential Concepts for 3rd Quarter in Reading and Language Arts. Most of our Basal Stories are Information Text, so I think we're going to focus a lot on those skills. In addition our Science Units will incorporate lots of non-fiction and vocabulary as well. I've found a lot of great ideas and will be sure to share what we do!

Hope you are enjoying your weekend! {Even though I only have one follower :) }
